Visit Taitung: Places to Visit In and Around the Astounding Taitung

Dulan

If you’re planning to visit Taitung, Dulan is a place you definitely don’t want to miss out on. You can go on a day trip from Taitung city because it is easily accessible with public transportation or you can just stay there for a few nights. There are more than enough possibilities for accommodations and things to do in Dulan so you won’t get bored. From beaches and mountains to cosy bars, Dulan has it all. You can visit the night market in the center of Taitung in Zengqi street on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It has wide variety of delicious and unique street food that is also not too expensive. In some of the places the vendors will put out chairs and tables so you can enjoy your meal while seated and watch the lively night market. You will definitely find a nice meal from all of the food options, like fishballs with different toppings inside called takoyaki, omelette pancakes, a BBQ bun or many more amazing dishes.

Taitung Railway Art Village

A nice place to visit in the center of Taitung city. This is the perfect place to take some nice pictures. There is an abandoned train station with beautiful old train wagons and part of it is decorated with artwork. It is just in the center of the village so there is no reason not have a look if you’re nearby.

Orchid Island

Orchid is a very small island off the coast of Eastern Taiwan in the Taitung area. The island is named after the beautiful orchids that grow on it. To get there you can book a tour or travel on your own by ferry to this magnificent island. Orchid island has a lot to offer when it comes down to nature, its a very popular spot for snorkeling and scuba diving because it is known for some of the best coral reefs around Taiwan. Furthermore, Orchid Island is home to an indigenous community called Tao, also known as the Yami people. Going to experience their culture will make your trip very interesting.

Bicycle Around Taitung City

There are many places in Taitung that rent bicycles, so why not just rent a bicycle and ride around. Taitung has bicycle routes that go around and through the city that pass by all of the tourist attractions and some really scenic views. While on a bike, you can visit the coastal sandstone rock formations called Xiaoleyiu, Taitung Forest Park, or the International Landmark (Seaside Park) and many more!
