We are looking for dynamic, creative/ entrepreneurial individuals or couples to join an unusual just-renovated, fully-furnished 8-Bedroom co-share living house with a swimming pool; garden & garage just above Shilin in Yangmingshan.

10-12min scooter ride from Shilin MRT (Red Line)
10-12min scooter ride from Dahzi MRT (Brown Line)
3-5mins to the closest 7
8-10mins to the closest Welcome (at Wenhua Daxue)
1min to a local store
4mins from the best chicken soup in Taiwan!
Hiking trails from the doorstep.

Scooters are definitely the preferred means of transport to/from the house but we do have a bus (小16) that stops literally outside the door and takes 20-30mins to Shilin and Jiantan MRT. Present members of the house cycle into the city daily. One member of the house also has a van ideal for weekend excursions, camping, festivals etc…

The garage does not have any room for a car because it is already taken up with scooters; bicycles; tools and storage. However, parking on the street right outside the house is legal anytime.

The house sits at 330m above sea level and is therefore above the layer of smog/ pollution that tends to sit over Taipei. Due to the elevation and prevailing wind in summer we are ~4° cooler than the city so fans are often fine and air-conditioning is usually only needed for a few weeks in the year!

Other Amenities:

Fully equipped commercial style kitchen with an oven; coffee machine; etcetera
Additional outdoor kitchen and BBQ
Rooftop yoga studio/ meditation/ exercise space with mountain views (this is part of the 2nd stage of renovation and is not complete yet, but half of the existing flat rooftop will be renovated accordingly)

House Vibe:

We are a looking for a diverse group of active people to fill the house, people from any creed; culture; race; sexuality… everyone is welcome, locals & foreigners alike!

Interests of the existing members of the house include but are not limited to:

Cycling; Hiking; Diving; Freediving; Paragliding; Motorcycling; Sculpture; Photography; Cooking; Music; Music Festivals; and more…

Anything that adds to or complements these interests is very welcome indeed!

If however you are the sort of person more interested in sitting in front of the TV all day you likely are not a suitable match for the house!

Likewise if you are divisive; racist; sexist; politically natured and/or narrow-minded then please don’t apply as you will not be welcome!

Without sounding too clichéd we are looking to create a highly positive, energetic community of open-minded people who help each other achieve life goals whilst having a lot of fun along the way!

Future Plans for the House:

The house is only very recently finished renovation but we have plans for the following further improvements in the coming months:

a) Installation of a bamboo viewing deck on the top of the roof to take advantage of the insane dawn views of the city and mountain peaks down South in central Taiwan (see pic)
b) Construction of a kitchen garden to (attempt to) grow some of our own vegetables.
c) Potential installation of a small chicken hutch to enjoy daily fresh eggs
d) Poolside deck/ awning and pizza oven
e) Free dive lessons
Terms:

1 year minimum lease (6 months might be considered in unique circumstances for the right sort of people). We are really looking for people to commit to the house and become and longer-term part of the community.

Rates indicated above do not include share of bills.

Couples are very welcome to join the house, but the house will be capped at a maximum of 12 full-time inhabitants.

Pets: House trained charismatic dogs will certainly be considered; cats are probably not welcome….
